We are pleased to highlight the launch of the Evolutionary Medical Genomics (EvoMG) PhD Programme, a joint initiative by our partner the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) with the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and the Institute of Evolutionary Biology (IBE), based in Barcelona.
This innovative programme aims to advance biomedical research by applying evolutionary approaches to medical genomics, fostering interdisciplinary training for a new generation of scientists.
Importantly, the EvoMG network was already envisioned in the original BIOMICS proposal, making its launch a strong and timely indicator of alignment with the project’s long-term vision. The programme is coordinated by Manuel Irimia (CRG) and includes the participation of key researchers such as Mafalda Dias and Jonathan Frazer (CRG), Isabel Gordo (GIMM) and Nuno Morais (BIOMICS Project Coordinator, GIMM). Additionally, Camille Berthelot, a member of the BIOMICS Scientific Advisory Board (SciAB), is also part of this collaborative network.
