Applications are now open for a new BIOMICS career and leadership development programme combining mentoring, peer support, self-reflection and leadership development for women postdoctoral researchers at GIMM.
Developed within the framework of the BIOMICS Twinning project, the programme aims to support women researchers in reflecting on their professional development, exploring career progression opportunities, strengthening their leadership potential, and preparing for positions of increased responsibility within science and research-related careers.
The initiative was shaped by the results of the BIOMICS survey on women’s leadership and career development at GIMM, which highlighted several areas where postdoctoral researchers would value additional support, including strategic career planning, confidence, negotiation, visibility and recognition, career progression, mentoring, and access to professional guidance. A six-month development journey
The first edition of the programme will bring together up to 15 women postdoctoral researchers at GIMM for an extended development journey combining four complementary elements: individual self-assessment, peer support, individual mentoring and leadership development.
Participants will become part of small peer groups, providing a space to exchange experiences, reflect on professional challenges and support one another throughout the programme. Each participant will also be matched with an experienced professional from the BIOMICS mentor pool, which is being developed to represent diverse career pathways, sectors and areas of expertise within and beyond academia.
The programme will begin with an Onboarding Day & Meet the Mentors session in December 2026, followed by mentor–mentee matching and a six-month mentoring and peer-support cycle running from January to June 2027. A final Closing & Reflection Session is planned for July 2027.
Applications are now open!
The Open Call runs from 30 September to 30 October 2026.
