The “From Academia to Industry: Career Transition Workshop” is a practical training activity designed to support researchers interested in exploring career opportunities beyond academia. Through interactive sessions and hands-on exercises, participants will learn how to identify relevant industry career paths, translate academic experience into industry-relevant skills, and strengthen their professional profiles.
The workshop will focus on practical tools to help scientists prepare for recruitment processes in the private sector, including CV tailoring, LinkedIn optimisation, networking strategies and interview preparation.
Training Programme
The workshop is structured into three interactive sessions:
- Career Opportunities & Industry Language – exploring career paths beyond academia and adapting academic CVs for industry positions
- CV & Online Presence – practical exercises on CV tailoring and LinkedIn profile optimisation
- Networking, Interviews & Negotiation – mock interviews, networking strategies and salary negotiation scenarios.

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
- Identify career paths aligned with their skills and interests

- Prepare a tailored CV for specific job opportunities
- Improve their LinkedIn visibility and professional networking
